10 players to run out in Bok jersey for first time against Barbarians
10 players could run out in the Springboks’ green and gold for the first time when South Africa plays the Barbarians at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
Of those 10 players, six of them are in the starting line-up and will definitely run out in action, namely: Sergeal Petersen (right wing), Francois Venter (outside centre), Rohan Janse van Rensburg (inside centre), Jamba Ulengo (left wing), Roelof Smit (openside flank) and RG Snyman (lock).
The first-timers on the bench is: Lizo Gqoboka (prop), Jean-Luc du Preez (loose-forward), Piet van Zyl (scrumhalf) and Tiaan Schoeman (fly half). In addition, after making his debut against the All Blacks last month, hooker Malcolm Marx will make his first start in the green and gold.
This is in all, taking note, that matches against the Barbarians and other World XV sides alike do not count as test matches, thus players will not earn any test caps for this clash.
Flyhalf Pat Lambie will take over the captaincy for this encounter.
