11 investigations by public protector in NMB

A total of 11 complaints are being investigated by the Office of the Public Protector in Nelson Mandela Bay, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Pravin Gordhan has told the National Assembly.

Replying to a written question from Bennett Bhanga (DA), the Minister said that 96 complaints were being investigated by the Office of the Public Protector in municipalities across the Eastern Cape.

Gordhan did not provide details of the complaints that are being investigated but the figures show that Nelson Mandela Bay and Kouga with 11 complaints each have the second highest number being investigated after Buffalo City (12).

Nationally, a total of 1 323 complaints are being investigated by the Office of the Public Protector, 211 of them in Johannesburg, 115 in Ekurhuleni and 94 in Cape Town. - metrominutes
