Detectives from Grahamstown SAPS conducted a tracing operation in the early hours of Wednesday morning and managed to apprehend two fugitives from the law.

"A male in his 40s, who has been sought by the  detectives since 2014 was arrested for possession of suspected stolen property. He has been linked to several cases of theft out of motor vehicles 'specialising' in car batteries," described police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender.

"The suspect will appear in the Grahamstown Magistrate's court on Friday."

Another sought after attempted murder suspect, Ivan Agnew (32), who has been on the run since 1st December 2016 was also arrested by the team of  detectives during the operation.

"The suspect had failed to appear in court on his attempted murder charge. Information was also received that he had been intimidating witnesses.

"He will also appear in the Grahamstown Magistrates court on Friday facing charges of attempted murder, contempt of court and intimidation," said Captain Govender.

Grahamstown Cluster Commander Brigadier David Kanuka commended the team for their diligence and perserverance.
