13 liquor license applications in NMB last month

A total of 13 liquor license applications for on or off-premises consumption or special events for Nelson Mandela Bay were submitted to the Eastern Cape Liquor Board last month.

Details, published in the Provincial Gazette, show that three of the applications were submitted for premises in New Brighton and two for Zwide, with the balance being spread across the metro.

Among the special events for which liquor licenses were applied were the Uitenhage Annual Picnic at the Willow Dam, the Drumboss Homecoming in New Brighton and Bayworld.

The other applications came from Despatch, Gelvandale, Rosedale in Uitenhage, Motherwell, Central, Rowallan Park and Korsten.

Provincially, 73 applications for liquor licenses were submitted to the board last month from municipalities across the Eastern Cape. - metrominutes
