Husband sought by police for assaulting wife and burning down home over affair

Police in Dutywa have appealed to the public for help with information that might assist them in locating a Dutywa man, who allegedly went on the run after assaulting his wife and burning down their home over an alleged affair.

"It is alleged that the husband, the suspect, whose age is not yet known set alight his house. The suspect, who has not yet been arrested, implicated his wife aged 38 of having an affair with another man at Jama Location, Qora Village, Dutywa," described police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"He is alleged to have assaulted his wife with fists. The wife took on her heels and reported the assault to the headman.

"The assault was committed on Friday, at about 21:15. While  the wife was at the homestead of the headman, she saw flames at her homestead.

"It is believed and suspected that the husband sat alight the their home."

The damage is estimated to be R20 000.

"The suspect is not yet arrested and anyone who may have seen him is requested to contact Dutywa police on 047 489 1333," said Captain Manatha.
