15 St Andrew's Prep pupils achieve Microsoft Office Specialist certification

NOVEMBER 2, 2016

While university students are running amok in Grahamstown, school children are forging ahead with their education, learning as much as possible in the time given.

"Achieving Microsoft Office Specialist certification is something many adults have yet to achieve, but recently, 15 St Andrew’s Prep pupils passed their MOS Word exams and seven achieved MOS Power Point certification, making them the first primary school boys in South Africa to do so.

"This is a phenomenal achievement, as these rigorous exams are usually only undertaken by high school pupils or adults," described Cherié Wille, Communications Officer at the school.

Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification is the leading IT certification in the world.

A recognised industry standard qualification, certification is based on an invigilated, task-based exam approved by Microsoft to validate desktop computer skills based on the Microsoft Office suite of programmes.

Students sit a separate exam for each programme in Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
