Police efforts to taking drug dealers off the street at Buffalo Flats in East London resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old suspect with 50 mandrax tablets worth R4 000.

According to Eastern Cape police, an alert Constable Siyasanga Mashologu was on patrol in Winderidge Road in Parkside on 14 January 2015 at about 15:20 as police were gathering intelligence on new established drug posts.

“It was then that he noticed the 24-year-old suspect standing alongside the road appearing very suspicious.

“This prompted Mashologu to investigate and it was then that he found 50 mandrax tablets in the possession of the suspect,” the police said.

“Upon questioning the suspect police learnt and gathered more intelligence which would assist them in their drug operations in future.

“Police arrested the suspect, took him to the Buffalo Flats Police Station where he was charged and detained.”
