A 29-year-old Butterworth man is expected to appear in the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Wednesday after he was busted by local police on Tuesday with about 66 dagga plants that he apparently cultivated. The estimated value of the plants is R35 000.

According to police spokesperson, Captain, Jackson Manatha, the man was arrested at Bawa Village, near Butterworth, after local police received a tip-off from the public about a dagga field at Bawa Villiage.

Police went to the area and busted the suspect.

While the man is due to appear in court, Captain Manatha said that more arrests were likely.
