61 year-old Mossel Bay woman arrested for shooting 49 year-old husband dead

Mossel Bay SAPS arrested a 61 year old woman following the death of her 49-year-old husband at their house.

According to Mossel Bay police, on Thursday evening, at approximately 23:00, the suspect and her husband allegedly had an argument in their bedroom on the ground floor of their house in Stinkhout Street, Heiderand.

During the argument, the suspect allegedly took her .38 special revolver (licenced in her name) and shot her husband, Joachim du Plessis, in the chest. He passed away on the scene.

Their 25-year-old daughter, who was asleep in her bedroom on the second floor, heard a gunshot and went to the main bedroom after which she alerted the neighbours.

The suspect was arrested on the scene and due to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrates court on Monday, 11 May.
