64 year-old Mqanduli man remanded in custody for alleged stock theft

A 64 year-old man, who was arrested by the Stock Theft Unit of the Mqanduli Detectives for possession of stolen livestock at Thala Location in Mqanduli on 23 March, was on Monday remanded in custody after his case was heard by a local court, Eastern Cape police said.

"It is alleged that 32 sheep were stolen at Ngcwala Loc, Mqanduli on 11 March 2016," said police spokesperson, Major Alfred  Jozana. 

"Mqanduli Stock Theft Detectives investigated the case and successfully arrested Mhlola Lutholi a 64 year old man and nine(9) sheep were recovered at the accused’s homestead."

He was taken to police custody and was charged with for possession of suspected stolen stock.

"The accused appeared at Mqanduli Magistrates Court on 4 April 2016 on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property and his case has been reprimanded to the 22 April 2016.  The suspect is still in police custody," said Major Jozana.
