AA warns of fuel shortages as union prepares to strike

The Automobile Association (AA) has warned motorists to fill up in preparation for a possible strike by the Chemical, Energy, Paper, Printing, Wood and Allied Workers’ Union (CEPPAWU) from Thursday morning.

In a statement, the association said the strike is expected to affect all refineries and petrol deports but not petrol pumps attendants. Motorist are however likely to be impacted once the pumps run dry.

“Accordingly, the association has advised motorists to ensure they top up their fuel tanks as regularly as reasonably possible. In addition, the AA said motorists should avoid taking unnecessary journeys, as well as stop-start driving to reduce fuel use,” the statement read.

It is however unclear as to how long the strike will last.
