Ackermann announces team to face Stormers

BY NATALI IVERSON - FEBRUARY 26, 2015

Emirates Golden Lions coach, Johan Ackermann, has made several changes to his team for the Super Rugby match against the DHL Western Province Stormers at Emirates Airline Park in Johannesburg on Saturday.

The Lions have played two matches so far this season, against the Hurricanes and the Cell C Sharks, and lost both, which has resulted in Ackermann changing his backline as well as replacement line-up.

“We had to be honest with ourselves this week,” Ackermann said.

"There were some harsh words said. We weren't happy with our performance (last week),” he added.

Schalk van der Merwe, Robbie Coetzee and Julian Redelinghuys will all start up front, with Jaco Kriel returning to the game as flanker, after being side-lined due to a minor groin injury last week.

Faf de Klerk has been placed at scrumhalf in place of Ross Cronje, with Elton Jantjies at flyhalf in place of Marnitz Boshoff.

Sampie Mastriet will be making his Super Rugby debut at right wing, along with Harold Vorster who has been placed at centre.
