Again expect no load shedding today: Eskom

SEPTEMBER 18, 2015

Eskom again in the morning said that it did not expect to implement load shedding on Friday.

"The probability of load shedding is low for today," the power utility said.

Last Sunday, the power utility warned that the power system will be constrained this week because of maintenance work at the Cahora Bassa hydroelectric scheme.

"As a result [of the maintenance], South Africa will get 650 MW instead of the 1 500 MW that is normally imported from Cahora Bassa on a daily basis," Eskom said.

Eskom had gone for 35 days of no load shedding by Monday morning when it implemented load shedding for about two hours in the evening.

The maintenance is expected to be completed on Sunday, with the scheme expected to be back on full power the next day.

Eskom warned that the grid will be constrained, particularly over the weekday evening peak periods from Tuesday to Friday.
