Alexandria brothers in court for growing and dealing in dagga

Two brothers from Alexandria are expected in the Alexandria Magistrate's Court on Monday after they were arrested by officers from the Alexandria SAPS and Operational Command Centre (OCC).

According to police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, the team acted on information, which led to the confiscation of over a 100 dagga seedlings and arrested a 27-year-old male suspect.

“He has been detained on a charge of cultivation of dagga and dealing in dagga,” she said.

Captain Govender further said that the officers also seized dry compressed dagga; a bag of wet compressed dagga, over 200 reseal able bags, as well as cash was seized.

She added that at the same address in Skepu street, KwaNonqubela, Alexandria, the brother of the suspect (18 years old) was also arrested for dealing in dagga.

Both suspects will appear in the Alexandria Magistrate's court on Monday.

Meanwhile, three suspects, aged between 26 and 57 years old, are expected in the Port Alfred Magistrate's Court after they were busted by the Port Alfred OCC team fon Friday and Saturday on drug related offences - namely, the possession of mandrax, dealing in dagga and possession of dagga.

“The estimated street value of the drugs is R6 735” said Captain Govender.
