Algoa Bus strike enters 13th day

OCTOBER 5, 2015

There seemed to be no relief in sight for commuters, who rely on Algoa Bus services to and from their places of work, as a strike by the company's staff entered its 13th day on Monday.

Commuters have had to find alternative ways of getting to and from work since the 23rd of September, when the strike, led by the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (SATAWU), began.

This was after three workers' unions and Algoa Bus failed to reach an agreement over the demands by the workers at a meeting at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

It is understood the parties might meet on Tuesday to try and find common ground.

Algoa Bus Company, last week urged commuters to be patient as "we are trying our best to get our buses back on the road".
