An additional liquidation application against EP Rugby

A group of 18 former EP Kings rugby players has reportedly joined in the liquidation process of the cash-strapped union.

The group’s lawyer, Craig Jessop, told AlgoaFM News that his clients were joining the process as co-applicants.

This came after EP Rugby failed to meet the deadline on Sunday night to pay the R12 million in arears and damages over the non-payment of salaries since September last year.

Last week an application was brought forward by a separate group of EP Kings players to liquidate the union. These players were represented by South Africa Rugby Players Association (SARPA).

It has been advised that EP Rugby would be opposing the liquidation of the union.

Jessop said his clients and EP Rugby will have their argument on the matter heard in the Port Elizabeth High Court on the 10th March.
