ANC and Daily Dispatch to discuss media plot claims

MAY 22, 2015

The African National Congress (ANC) and the Daily Dispatch are reportedly scheduled to meet soon to discuss the authenticity of a document which the ANC alleges reveals a plot against it by the paper.

A meeting between the South African National Editors Forum (Sanef) and the party on Thursday did not yield results - and the Daily Dispatch maintains the alleged document did not originate from within its editorial office.

Still, both parties have agreed to settle the dispute and improve relations through further discussions.

According to ANC national spokesman, Zizi Kodwa, the party will also be looking at the media's role in South Africa.

“I mean it’s our responsibility as a political party to make certain observations and when we make certain observations, we make announcements in public but it does not close a space for us to engage and I think engagement is what has brought us to be here,” he said.
