ANC and EFF squabbling has made Parli a joke - FF+

The Freedom Front Plus (FF+) has said the ongoing interruptions and exchange of insults between the African National Congress (ANC) and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has left Parliament’s reputation in tatters and reduced its image to nothing but a joke.

Speaking during the House’s budget vote on Thursday, party Chief Whip Corne Mulder said Parliament has become a topic of embarrassment to ordinary South Africans, and that the EFF, who he described as the actual ANC Youth League clad in red, had lived up to its goal when its promised two years ago “to bring a revolution to Parliament”.

“To accomplish this, the EFF had to get rid of President Zuma in attempt to take control of the ANC. In return, the ANC has done its upmost to protect the President [against any forms of accountability],” Mulder said.

“Twice before have ANC members voted against impeaching President Zuma, twice against the remedial actions of the Public Protector, and violating the Constitution in the process. They then had the audacity to say Parliament has succeeded in its task, yet no-one commented on any of the grievances raised.

"This blood feud is only expected to continue with those bearing the biggest brunt being ordinary South Africans,” he said.

Thursday’s sitting was again characterised by wide-spread name-calling and objections despite calls to respect the decorum of the House.
