ANC Chief Whip resigns in light of “new responsibility”

BY CHARL BOSCH - MARCH 2, 2016

The African National Congress (ANC) has confirmed the resignation of its Chief Whip, Stone Sizani, from Parliament.

In a statement, the ruling party said Sizani, who replaced Mathole Motshekga in 2013, had been re-deployed “to new responsibility” that was urgently needed, and therefore accepted the offer to resign as MP following a caucus meeting on Wednesday. Deputy Chief Whip Doris Dlakude will replace him in an acting role.

ANC spokesperson Moloto Mothapo said complete details would be announced in due course.
