ANC Eastern Cape gathers branches for preparations ahead of elections

NOVEMBER 9, 2015

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape will on Monday gather its regional representatives in all subregions and metros to look at the realignment of structures and processes towards lists and candidate selection ahead of the 2016 Local Government Elections.

According to a statement from the Office of the ANC Eastern Cape Provincial Secretary, Oscar Mabuyane, ANC branches need to realign and establish new ANC branches if affected by demarcation as outlined in the guide lines.

"ANC branches will soon be convening branch general meetings to elect candidates and delegates to list conferences.

"The purpose of these subregional meetings is for the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) to engage branches on how the processes are going to unfold. As BGM’s are going to be held by branch leaders, we need a smooth process with no faults," read the statement.

"All the meeting will take place on the 9th at 11am in venues identified by subregions and metros."

PEC members that are deployees in regions will be deployed in all subregions with Regional Executive Committees (REC) members in their respective regions to drive these meetings.
