Annual Dolphin Rally To Rev-Up Uitenhage For Charity

SEPTEMBER 16, 2014

The annual Dolphin rally, a fixture on the national biking calendar that draws bikers from as far afield as Namibia, Swaziland and Botswana, will rev up Uitenhage from Friday 26 September to Sunday, 28 September at the Springs Resort and the Volkswagen race track.

Gona Puckreesamy, President of the Dolphins Motorcycle Club, said visitors will once again enjoy the great atmosphere of the event with more than 5 000 bikers descending on the Bay.

“On Friday we have Mr and Mrs Dolphin, fun and games, a mini draw and loads of entertainment in store.

“On Saturday, we will bring the otherwise quiet streets of Uitenhage to life with a mass ride to the Volkswagen People’s Pavilion, followed by a short formal address by our Executive Mayor Benson Fihla, wheelies , drags, a charity give away and loads more entertainment,” Puckreesamy enthused.

The rest of the Saturday will see the convoy of bikers return to the Springs Resort for burnouts, the draw for the main prizes and more entertainment.

The Dolphin Rally, now in its fifteenth year, was successfully hosted at the Beachview Resort in 2010/11/12 and 2013 without any major incidents and it has grown to be the largest motorcycle rally in the Eastern Cape.

Cllr Nomamerica Soul, Portfolio Chairperson for Recreation, Sport, Arts and Culture, encouraged Bay bikers to participate and enjoy the packed programme for a good cause.
