Another suspect arrested for the fatal shooting of 2 year-old Caitlin Ruiters

A 29 year-old suspect was arrested on Thursday afternoon by Port Elizabeth police for the alleged murder of 2 year-old Caitlin Ruiters.

"The suspect was arrested in the street in Holland Park, Port Elizabeth by members of the Gang Task Team.  He is expected to appear in court soon," the police said.

The first suspect Marcus Malgas (24) was arrested in December 2015 and charged for the murder.

He appeared in court and remains in police custody until his next appearance on 7 March.

Malgas is also linked to two other shooting incidents in Gelvandale (murder and attempted murder).

Caitlin Ruiters was fatally shot  on 14 December 2015 in Sagitarius Road Helenvale.

"It is alleged that at about 07:00, a 24 year-old man was walking in the street when two men approached him and starting shooting. A stray bullet struck Caitlin Ruiters in her chest," the police added.

"The child was standing in front of her house when the shooting occurred. She succumbed to her injuries while on the way to the hospital."
