Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has reportedly returned home after a weeklong stay in a Cape Town hospital for an unspecified “persistent infection”.

The 83-year old Nobel peace laureate’s family has expressed their thanks to South Africans as well as well-wishes received globally, after his admittance made international headlines.

In a statement, Reverend Mpho Tutu said her father had been told to scale down his public appearances and that he is reportedly looking forward to spending time with his wife of 60 years Leah, as well as watching cricket.
