Are you the next Mr PE?

On June 13th a new Die Burger Boardwalk Mr PE 2015 will be chosen to represent the young men of the Nelson Mandela Metro. This prestigious title, in its fourteenth consecutive year, has increasingly grown in stature since its inception in 2002. The gala event is an undisputable highlight on the social calendar of the Eastern Cape.

The young gentleman chosen to fulfil the role of Die Burger Boardwalk Mr PE is not only to be the most dashing of all, but more importantly a young man to whom the city’s youth can look up to and represent his sponsors and the people of PE.

Die Burger Boardwalk Mr PE has a proud record of active involvement in social investment programs in Port Elizabeth. The aim of the title is to embrace responsibility and encourage a positive impact through community activities.

It is not a modelling competition and the title carries the full weight and responsibility of the qualifying criteria set out to enter the competition, as well as the expectations of all the sponsors involved. Past Mr PE’s have undoubtedly been much needed role models to the youth of the region.

The 2015 titleholder will support three charitable organisations. He will be responsible to garner pro-active community involvement and corporate social responsibility support for these chosen charities.

Qualifying criteria to enter the competition entails a valid driver’s license, a minimum grade 12 level of education and sober habits. Entrants can be of any race, single and between the ages of 20-30.

The competition will be launched on 23 February in DIE BURGER, on the official Mr. PE website and Facebook. Closing date for entries is March 30th, at which time twenty semi-finalists will be chosen to do interviews and then the final 15 gents will be chosen to start a six week journey of upliftment, building courage, events and a lot more activities.

The finalists will be introduced to the public at the Boardwalk Amphi Theatre on May 1st. This first public appearance generates a lot of interest in the event and helps the entrants to get used to the limelight and the supporting audience. Entry donation per person, R10.00, available at the door on said date.

The competition culminates in a spectacular and well attended gala evening at the Boardwalk Hotel ICC on June 13th. Tickets will be available from the 15 Finalists or at Heinz in Style, 45 Third Avenue, Newton Park at a donation of R120. There will also be a limited “Golden Circle” tickets at R200.

There will also be a Fairview Race Day on 29 May where the public can purchase tickets from the finalists.
