Atlas Security hosts Captain Courage for children with life-threatening illnesses

MARCH 30, 2016

Port Elizabeth-based security company, Atlas Security, in conjunction with Reach for a Dream, on Wednesday hosted the Captain Courage Programme in aid of this worthy cause.

"These courageous boys had the opportunity to be in the shoes of an Armed Response Officer for a day and took part in various activities, giving them a chance to show off their fighting spirit," the company said in a statement.

"The activities included responding to an alarm activation, combat, medical and baton training. The officers showed the boys how brave Atlas Armed Response officers are - risking their lives to protect every member of the community in the Nelson Mandela Bay area. The boy's deeds of bravery were honored by them all receiving special medals, reminding them of the day that they had loads of fun and felt like heroes!"

Captain Courage is an exclusive "boys only" project filled with adventurous activities to reward local children with life-threatening illnesses for their bravery.

"Being diagnosed with a life threatening illness is a very challenging experience for a young boy. By taking part in courageous activities, our boys are given the chance to show off their fighting spirit," described Reach for a Dream.

"Every Captain Courage event is aimed at exposing boys to a new envuironment, but more importantly it's an opportunity for them to have fun outside of the hospital with other children, who have similar experiences."
