Axed Nelson Mandela Bay Deputy Mayor now an MPL

JUNE 15, 2015

The African National Congress (ANC) has recycled two axed Deputy Mayors and one Mayor from the province's two Metros. In a statement issued by the Eastern Cape legislature, in Bhisho, the former deputy mayors for Buffalo City and the Nelson Mandela Bay have been redeployed to the Provincial Legislature.

After their swearing in at the Legislature by the Speaker, Noxolo Kiviet, axed Buffalo City Deputy Mayor, Temba Tinta, and former Nelson Mandela Bay Metro Deputy Mayor, Chippa Ngcolomba, are now Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs).

Tinta was fired two Fridays ago together with former Buffalo City Mayor, Zukiswa Ncitha, following infighting in the Buffalo City Municipality while the two, and other co-accused, currently face charges of fraud and corruption related to the Mandela funeral saga.

In another shocking turn of events, Ncitha has reportedly been redeployed to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).

Ngcolomba was ousted from the Nelson Mandela Bay Council, when the ANC appointed South African Football Association (SAFA) President, Danny Jordaan, as the new Executive Mayor for Nelson Mandela Bay and brough back Port Elizabeth businessman, Biks Ndoni, as his deputy.
