Azi Dladla wins a recording deal after Tru Talent Search Crown
The world, it seems is an oyster for young Port Elizabeth musician Azi Dladla (20) after winning Tru Talent Search Music Competition.
Not only did he take home a prize-money of R10 000 and a chance to record a single with multiple award winning Hip Hop artist Ifani, Azi of Kwazakhele Township will also record a video which will be played on national television platforms including the popular SABC 1 Music Show, Live Amp.
As if that was not enough, Azi signed a record deal with successful label CSun Records whose CEO China Mpololo of Cape Town came down to PE to sign Azi.
“C Sun Holdings gave me a five album record deal. That’s very sweet. I am delighted after years of toil and sweat,” said an elated young man who started recording music at age 15.
Azi passed matric at Westering High School in 2014. He is currently studying marketing and boats of recording three albums so far. He composed and produced his own songs since his debut album “The beginning of the end” which he recorded at Zonke Bonke Records in Motherwell.
Azis’ past performance include, Nelson Mandela Bay Music Festival 2016, Ebubeleni Music Festival 2015, Miss Summer Motherwell 2015, Bikers SA/Algoa FM Toy Run 2014 and 2015, ITS at the Monte Casino 2014, Uitenhage Picnic at Willow Dam 2014 and 2015, Bay Opening of the Festive Season 2013/2014, Northern Areas Arts (NAF) Festival 2013, Absa Kirkwood Wildsfees 2013, Baytv Birthday Party 2012, Bay Splash Festival 2012 amongst others.
His projects include, ”The beginning of the end” in 2012, ”Verum Dicere” an EP in 2014 and the latest, ”Me, myself & music” which came out in August this year.
He said about the Tru Talent Search, “This is a competition run by SABC Radio station, Tru FM which is based in Bhisho. It is aimed at young entertainers in the Eastern Cape the opportunity to take their careers to the next level. It has three categories, namely; Dance, Music and Radio Presenting. In each of these categories a top 18 was chosen after auditions throughout the province. I made the top 18 in music then we were whittled down until I took the top honours. This means , I’ll receive Studio time at one of the Eastern Capes best recording studios with Eastern Cape Golden Boy Ifani. After recording a song with Ifani, a Music Video will be shot and we’ll then take a nationwide tour promoting the song at SABC TV and Radio Music Shows.”
Azi SA is without a doubt one of the most talented artists to come out of Nelson Mandela Bay, having shared the stage with some of the greatest of our country namely AKA, Black Coffee, Kid X, Nathi, Zahara, Thandiswa Mazwai, Nasty C and many more.
