Bafana played more strategically - Mashaba
Bafana Bafana head coach, Shakes Mashaba, believes his team played with more skill and heart, when Bafana faced Zambia in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) friendly match at the Orlando Stadium on Sunday.
Both teams had many opportunities to score goals throughout the game, however, the match ended with the score of 1-0 after Bafana midfielder, Thuso Phala, struck a powerful shot into the goalpost in the 81st minute.
"There has never been a friendly between two nations. It's always a question of pride," Mashaba said after the game.
"They were very determined to come here and break our momentum, it was a good game, tactically we were more superior to them of course and unfortunately we couldn't finish up the goals we wanted to score.
"And fatigue was taking its toll in the last 12 -13 minutes of the game, you could have seen all the players looking at their legs and muscles.
"But all in all I would like to say thank you to Zambia, we can wish them the best of luck." He added.
