Balotelli finally scores for Liverpool

Liverpool striker, Mario Balotelli, secured a 2-1 win for the Red’s in their Barclays Premier League match against Swansea City at Anfield on Tuesday evening.

Balotelli has only scored one goal for his team in 12 appearances and is said to be struggling since his £16 million pre-season move from AC Milan in August.

Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers, sent the 24-year-old onto the field with only 11 minutes remaining on the clock, and with the Red’s being 1-0 down.

With four minutes left, Balotelli showed his skill as he cleared City’s defence team and got the ball past Swansea goalkeeper, Gerhard Tremmel.

Red’s central defender, Dejan Lovren, scored his first goal for Liverpool when he received the ball from midfielder, Philippe Coutinho’s free kick and headed it past Tremmel, securing Liverpool’s victory.

Liverpool assistant manager, Colin Pascoe, said that “Balotelli is working hard in training and he got his just rewards coming on and getting the goal."

Liverpool have not scored any goals in the last two games, both of which were on their home ground, however, with the 2-1 win over City, the Red’s have now advanced into the last eight of the League Cup.
