Base engine Ford Focus gets automatic touch
Less than twelve months after receiving a mid-life facelift, Ford South Africa has further bolstered its Focus line-up with the addition of a six-speed Powershift dual-clutch gearbox to models fitted with its multi-award winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine.
Bringing the local Focus range to 14 models, the revised box can be had on the base Ambiente and mid-spec Trend trim levels, with power remaining unchanged from the standard six-speed manual at 92 kW and 170 N.m of torque. Fuel consumption is rated at 5.5 L/100 km with emissions coming at 125 g/km.
Standard spec mirrors that of the manual with the Ambiente featuring electric front windows, Ford’s SYNC infotainment system with voice activation and Bluetooth, six-speaker audio system with aux input and dual USB ports, electric mirrors, full trip computer, 16-inch steel wheels, dual front airbags, Hill Launch Assist and ABS with EBD and ESP.
Moving one up, the Trend adds 16-inch alloys, front foglights, cruise control, curtain airbags and rear electric windows.
As part of the optional Styling Pack, additional standard kit includes dual-zone climate control, 17-inch alloys, auto on/off xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights and heated folding mirrors, while the Driver Assistance Pack consists of Lane Departure Warning, Land Keeping Assist, Active City Stop, front and rear parking sensors and reverse camera.
A four year / 120 000 km warranty and four year / 80 000 km service plan is standard on all models.
