Base spec Ford Fiesta EcoBoost gains manual box

BY CHARL BOSCH - DECEMBER 15, 2015

Having introduced a lower spec version of its 1.0-litre EcoBoost powered Fiesta in March, Ford has upped the ante with the introduction of a five-speed manual gearbox to supplement to existing six-speed dual-clutch Powershift automatic.

Bringing the total number of models making use of the multi-award winning three pot engine to six, the manual shift Ambiente slots in above the entry-level normally aspirated 1.4-litre petrol, with power remaining unchanged at 74 kW and 170 N.m of torque. Fuel consumption is rated at 4.3 L/100 km and emission at 99 g/km.

Standard is generous and includes Ford’s SYNC connectivity system with voice activation, USB and Bluetooth, electric front windows, heated and powered colour coded mirrors, steering mounted audio controls, follow-me-home headlights, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.

As with the rest of the range, a four year / 120 000 km warranty and four / year 60 000 km service plan is standard.
