Basel ready for Real Madrid and Liverpool
Basel Coach, Paulo Sousa, has said that his team can take on Real Madrid and Liverpool in the upcoming weeks, in their quest to qualify for the knock out stages of the Champions League, for only the second time in the clubs history.
The Swiss team will be facing Real on their home ground, at Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday evening, and will then be playing Liverpool in two weeks time.
"We are going to play against two teams that have won the competition 15 times," said Sousa,
"We want to build on what the club has done in the last five years, continue to progress and compete with the best."
Less than four months after the Champions League, reigning champions Real Madrid have lost two of their three opening games. Sousa has said that they are hoping to “pile on Real’s pain” by beating them on their home turf this evening.
"In clubs this big where there is always the need to win, these types of things can happen," Sousa added.
"I am sure they are going to solve their problems, but I hope it will not be tomorrow.
"It is a game against the champions, the best team in Europe. We have to enjoy it and I'm sure we will."
