Beacon Bay Retail Park Breakfast Run raises more than R20 000 for charity

East London’s Beacon Bay Retail Park on Saturday was able to raise more than R20 000 at their third annual Breakfast Run in honour of Nelson Mandela Day.

Despite the cold temperatures, over 1 000 people attended the event.

“We were overwhelmed with the response received from the public and would like to thank every person for their support.

“The R12 500 in funds raised before the race were donated to the Round Table Number One, who will be purchasing blankets for various local communities,” Beacon Bay Retail Park Breakfast Run marketing Manager, Natelie Kriel told Go&Express.

Furthermore, the organisers were able to assist Round Table in raising R20 500 towards their blanket drive this year, with a further R3 000 received on the morning and R5 000 in pledges.

Finishers got to be spoilt with breakfast vouchers from restaurants of their choices at the shopping centre.

The winners walked away with various prizes and gift vouchers.

“Without our generous sponsors, the event would not be possible, and we thank them for their kind contribution,” Kriel said.
