Blue Bulls captain suspended for a week
Vodacom Blue Bulls captain, Deon Stegmann, has been suspended for one week for striking EP Kings lock, Darron Nell, the South African Rugby Union (SARU) judicial officer, Tokkies van Zyl, said in a statement on Wednesday.
The incident happened at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Port Elizabeth last Friday, when Stegmann was red carded in the 69th minute of the game for hitting Nell in the face with his elbow.
Bulls hooker, Bongi Mbonambi, has been also cleared of further sanction, as he received a yellow card in the game after he changed into a ruck without using his arms.
Both Stegmann and Mbonambi appeared before the SARU judicial committee on Tuesday.
The Blue Bulls will next face the Sharks at Loftus Versveld Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday.
