Blue Crane Route Municipality buys new grader for improved service delivery

In an effort to boost its service delivery efforts, the Blue Crane Route Local Municipality purchased a new heavy duty grader which was received by Mayor, Marjorie Scott, on the 5th of July.

Mayor Scott said that the new equipment will help fast-track road and infrastructure improvements and other projects currently underway and would enhance the municipality’s ability to manage multiple projects at a time.

The Blue Crane Route Local Municipality’s road network is aging and alternatives like paving, maintenance, repairing potholes and the upgrade of its stormwater system are being planned and implemented.

Lubabalo Majenge, Communications Officer at the Blue Crane Route Local Municipality, added that the grader includes many modern features.

“The heavy duty grader is a new generation unit which is the first of its kind to be delivered in the Eastern Cape,” he said, adding that the municipality was also mindful about costs when purchasing the new grader.

“The municipality managed to secure a five (5) year warranty at no additional cost, which is unheard of for this type of unit, which normally has a standard warranty of one year at R200 000,” Majenge described.

He ended by saying that the Blue Crane Route Local Municipality is committed to improving infrastructure and thereby improving the lives of the residents it serves.
