Branch disputes halt ANC Eastern Cape regional conferences

SEPTEMBER 26, 2015

Two Eastern Cape ANC regional conferences due to be held this weekend have had to be cancelled because of branch disputes.

The Joe Gqabi regional conference, meant to be held on Friday, and the OR Tambo regional conference to be held on Sunday were postponed, provincial secretary Oscar Mabuyane said in a statement.

He said this was due to branch disputes not being resolved. The conferences were postponed until further notice.

ANC leaders, led by President Jacob Zuma, have had to recently intervene in a number of regions in the province, which included Joe Gqabi and OR Tambo.

The party has been trying to iron out internal problems in the province ahead of next year's local government elections.
