Bulls prop trio side-lined due to car crash

APRIL 30, 2015

Vodacom Blue Bulls loosehead prop, Dean Greyling and prop Hencus van Wyk, have both been side-lined for this weekend’s Super Rugby clash against the Emirates Golden Lions, after suffering minor injuries in a car crash on Wednesday.

Greyling, who injured his knee and Van Wyk, who has a few scrape wounds, have been replaced by Morne Mellett and Dayan van der Westhuizen for this weekend’s match.

Bulls’ prop, Basil Short, who was supposed to take part in the Bulls Vodacom Cup against the Bulls Limpopo on Saturday, was also in the car when it crashed, and he will not be participating in the match due to a neck injury.

According to Xander Janse van Rensburg, High Performance Manager of the Blue Bulls Company (BBC), the trio were returning from a hunting trip, just outside of Pretoria, when the car overturned.

"We are grateful that they did not sustain any serious injuries. Dean injured his knee, Hencus suffered some burns and Basil injured his neck, which resulted in him spending the night in hospital for observation. We wish them a speedy recovery,” it said on the Bulls official website.

The Bulls will be taking on the Lions at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday evening at 19:10.
