Butterworth funeral parlour owner gets 12-year jail sentence for murder


The Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Tuesday convicted and sentenced a 58 year-old funeral parlour owner from the town, Ngenisile Gxoyi, to 12 years behind bars for the murder of Mfundo Ndlwana, aged 30 years old, at Ibika Industrial Area, Butterworth, early this year.

It is alleged that on 25th of April, at about 17:15, Ndlwana was shot dead in his workshop at Ibika Industrial Area by Gxoyi, who accused accused him of stealing his car’s gearbox.

“The convicted implicated the deceased of stealing the gearbox of his car, he went to his workshop and he drew his fire arm and shot the deceased on his upper body and the deceased died instantly,’’ described Butterworth police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

Gxoyi was then arrested and charged for murder by the Butterworth police.
