Butterworth man gets 25 years behind bars for rape

A Butterworth man, 31-year-old Siyakudumisa Ntengo, was on Monday sentenced by the Butterworth Regional Court to 25 years imprisonment after the court convicted him of rape.

"The accused was found guilty of raping a 13-year-old girl.

"It is alleged that the accused went to the homestead of the victim at Hewu Location Cegcuwana Village, Butterworth, on the 25 October 2013 at about 04:00. He dragged the victim to his home at Mphesheya Location Cegcuwana Village Butterworth where he repeatedly raped the victim," Eastern Cape police said.

"A rape case opened and was investigated by Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).

"The unit traced and arrested the suspect."

He was charged with rape and a conviction resulted in the 25 years imprisonment sentence.
