Justice was finally served when the Butterworth Regional Magistrate's Court on Friday convicted and sentenced 24-year-old, Wandile Ngcaba, to 16 years behind bars for raping a 23-year-old woman in Butterworth.

According to the police, the crime was committed on the 19th of January 2008, at about 04:00, at Ngxalathi Village.

“The victim was alone when the accused kicked the door wide open, the convicted then then accosted the victim in a clandestine manner, and he raped her and later took on heels," said police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha.

He added that, a case of rape was opened and Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offences Unit (FCS) traced and arrested the accused.

Butterworth Cluster Commander Brig Stanley Sibidla welcomed the sentence and praised the Butterworth FCS Unit for sterling job.
