Butterworth police appeal for assistance in fatal hit and run case

Butterworth police over the weekend appealed to the public for assistance in their investigations after a fatal hit and run incident near the town. 

According to Eastern Cape police, a man believed to be in his thirties was struck and killed by a car of which the driver failed to stop.

"The incident took place on Saturday, at about 20:40, along the N2 Highway near Butterworth," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"No one has been arrested and we appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact Butterworth Police at 047 401 1100."

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide and failure to stop after an accident.
