By tracking victim's iPhone, Port Alfred police pounce on alleged robber

A 19-year old male suspect from Port Alfred is expected in court on Monday after he was arrested by the town's K9 and VISPOL officers in possession of two stolen cell phones.

"The suspect, who faces charges of Common Robbery and Assault allegedly robbed two students at around 02:00 on Saturday morning at Causeway, Port Alfred.

"The victims were approached by two males and an iPhone and STK cellphones taken," said Port Alfred police.

"The iPhone was tracked by W/O Neethling and Cst Magasela to Duti braaiplace in Nemato.

"Cst Magasela activated the iPhone signal from his private iPhone and both the stolen phones were recovered hidden in the sleeve of the suspect's jersey."

He will appear in the Port Alfred Magistrate's Court on Monday.
