Catchment dams running at 83% capacity

The Eastern Cape branch of the South African Weather Service has reported that good rainfalls in the various catchment areas, had led to Nelson Mandela Bay’s main supply dams running at an average capacity of 83.02%.

According to the bureau, the areas around Joubertina, Patensie, Kareedouw and Kouga received a combined total of 88 mm throughout the last two days, with the levels of Groendal, Loerie and Kouga dams currently standing at full capacity.

A reported 24 mm was recorded in Port Elizabeth over the last 24 hours with the highest being East London at 53 mm followed by Port Alfred on 43 mm.
