Celebrating Collaborative and Makerspace Learning

NOVEMBER 16, 2016

As the demands on school leavers change, so schools must adapt. St Andrew’s Prep celebrates new adventures in its dynamic Centre for Creative Learning.

"It's a sizable collaborative learning area with flexible, mobile configurations of specially designed furniture which allow pupils and teachers to explore 21st century concepts," said Cherié Wille, Communications Officer at the school.

"Makerspace, Visual Art, Robotics, Coding programmes, Design and Technology and Science are just some of the exciting subjects for which the Centre provides new angles of exploration."

Wille said that Makerspace underpins the 21st century learning skills of collaboration, critical thinking, communication and creativity.

"Transforming the education landscape, the Makerspace movement provides hands-on and creative ways to encourage pupils to question, solve, design, collaborate, experiment, invent, construct and change," added.

"In keeping with the School's commitment to Community Engagement, the use of this innovative space has been extended to pupils of the Good Shepherd School as part of an ArtReach programme, and will also benefit Childrens’ Arts Festival goers in 2017."
