Business robbery foiled

Meanwhile, Centane police on Friday foiled an armed robbery at Shoprite Supermarket in the small town.

It is alleged that two young smartly-dressed men entered the Shoprite Supermarket at about 10:00am and requested to meet with the store manager as they pretended to be submitting their curriculum vitae.

The unsuspecting manager met with the two men and went with them to his office. It was then that the  suspects turned on the manager and demanded money. It is believed that the suspects were armed with pistols.

Police acting on intelligence rushed to the supermarket.

However, one of the two suspects received a tip-off about the police and they fled before they could rob the supermarket.

It is believed that a third suspect was waiting outside and might have seen the armed police officials rushing to the scene.

Police believe they fled on foot as no get away car was seen speeding away.

Centane Police are still investigating a case of attempted business robbery and no arrests have yet been made.
