Chance for Nelson Mandela Bay residents to see SA Agulhas II up close

Nelson Mandela Bay residents will have a chance to go aboard the famous icebreaking polar supply and research ship, SA Agulhas II, when she docks in Algoa Bay this weekend.

The Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA), which owns the SA Agulhas II, will host the annual SA Agulhas II Open Day this Saturday, 14 May 2016, in Port Elizabeth.

"The open day will highlight the Department’s work in the ocean and coastal environment, and will also provide a guided tour of the vessel, from its state of the art laboratories, to the Miriam Makeba lounge," the department said in a statement.

"There will also be exhibitions and displays by DEA and its stakeholders."
