Chance of load shedding low to medium - Eskom

FEBRUARY 18, 2015

Power utility, Eskom has said that it expects a low to medium chance of load-shedding for Wednesday, with the grid expected to become more strained during the evening.

Energy Department Director General, Wolsey Barnard, announced on Tuesday that Eskom would take at least 20 to 30 months to catch up on maintenance.

“It’s going to take time. For the next couple of months, we’re going to pay severe attention to get maintenance up and normality in the supply [of energy],” he said on Tuesday.

“Load shedding is to protect our network… to prevent blackouts. The country is not aiming at blackouts,” he added.
