Cheetah inspired makeover for Mahindra XUV 500
Indian auto giant, Mahindra, has given its popular XUV 500 SUV a mid-life facelift with a number of styling tweaks as well as some revisions to the interior.
Said to have been inspired by a cheetah, exterior changes to the seven-seat XUV 500 consists of a gloss black grille, new bonnet, reshaped lower air intake, new headlights with daytime running LED’s and J-shaped foglights mounted at either side. Changes at the rear and more subtle and mainly includes new taillight clusters and a slightly revised bootlid.
Inside, the interior now features upgraded fabrics and trim with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, incorporating satellite navigation, reverse camera and Bluetooth audio streaming, now fitted on the flagship W8 model.
Consisting of four models, standard spec on the base W4 includes a four-speaker MP3 sound system, projector type headlights, electric windows all around, follow-me-home headlights, electric mirrors, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.
Moving one up, the mid-range W6 adds a six-inch infotainment display, USB and Bluetooth, rain sense wipers, alloy wheels, chrome interior scuff plates, telescopic steering wheel, cruise control, puddle lamps, one touch up/down electric windows up front, steering audio control, voice recognition, ESP and Hill Decent Control.
Completing the range, the flagship W8 features the above mentioned infotainment system, on/off headlights, tyre pressure monitoring system, side airbags, leather seats and foldable electric mirrors.
Up front, the XUV 500 continues unchanged with all models being powered by Mahindra’s mHawk 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine that makes 103 kW and 330 N.m of torque. A six-speed manual is the only transmission available with all-wheel drive also being offered on the W8.
Combined fuel consumption is rated at 6.5 L/100 km for the 2WD and 7.0 L/100 km for the AWD, with emissions coming in at 171 g/km for all.
A five year / 150 000 km warranty and five year / 100 000 km service plan is standard on all models.
