Cheetahs first injury blow

BY NATALI IVERSON - JANUARY 26, 2015

The Toyota Free State Cheetahs have been dealt their first major injury blow of the season after Springbok under-20 wing, Sergeal Petersen, broke his jaw during the 30-13 loss against the Vodacom Blue Bulls in Polokwane on Saturday.

Clayton Blommetjies was drafted in as his replacement after Petersen clashed with a Bulls defender and was taken off the field.

Cheetahs coach, Naka Drotske, has said that the 20-year-old will be on the side-lines for a lengthy period.

“It looks like we’ve lost him for between six and eight weeks,” Drotske said.

The Cheetahs will next be facing the DHL Stormers for their pre-season friendly game this coming weekend.

Springbok players, Cornal Hendricks, Willie le Roux and Teboho Mohoje, who did not participate in the match against the Bulls, will be joining the team for the Stormers match on Saturday.
