Chippa progress to NBC quarters, play host in PSL to City at NMB Stadium on Tuesday

Chippa United booked a place in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals for the first time in their history of the knockout tournament and will play host to Jomo Cosmos at the NMB Stadium on Saturday, the 22nd of April.

Upsettingly, Jomo Cosmos, the only last remaining First Division side, beat the second-placed ABSA Premiership forerunners, Bidwest Wits, in penalty shootouts to reach the point of facing the Chilli Boys in the quarters.

The Chilli Boys, after enduring dire form of late – winning their first match in the last nine encounters, whitewashed Polokwane City 2-0 at the NMB Stadium on Saturday, after a scoreless half-time projection.

Thanks to Buyani Sali and Andile Mbenyane, Chippa broke ice to score two unanswered goals in the second half and win the game contently.

The two sides will now match-up again on Tuesday night in a PSL encounter, where City will surely have their noses in for revenge.

Chippa are currently placed 10th with 23 points on the ABSA Premiership standings, while Polokwane City is seventh-placed with 27 points.

Striker, Lerato Manzini, has been suspended and will not out for Chippa when they take to the field against City.
